For foreign citizens
Entering Armenia
By road, you reach Yerevan through Russia and Georgia — that's three borders.
- Visa-free for up to 180 days a yearRussian and Kazakhstan citizens don't need a visa for Armenia. If you stay longer than 30 days, register with the migration service.
- By road — international passport onlyA Russian internal passport works only on a direct flight. On a bus through Georgia you need an international passport.
- Health insurance — because of GeorgiaArmenia itself doesn't require a policy, but transit through Georgia requires health insurance since 2026.
- ChildrenA child needs their own passport. If a child travels with one parent or without parents, bring a notarised consent to travel from the parent(s).
- Debts can block your exitIn both Russia and Kazakhstan, debts under enforcement proceedings (loans, alimony, fines, taxes) can lead to a ban on leaving the country — and you only find out at the border. Check a couple of days before your trip: it takes a minute.
Information as of November 2026, collected from open sources. Rules change — check them on the foreign ministry and border service websites before you travel.
